The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC has completed its investigation into a “Meet the Press” stunt that violated DC law.

On the Dec. 23 edition, host David Gregory held up what appeared to be a high-capacity assault rifle magazine during an interview with NRA chief Wayne LaPierre. The case has now moved on to the Office of the Attorney General, reports the Washington Post.

Possessing a magazine capable of holding 10 or more rounds of ammunition, even if empty, is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
