David Chalian Named CNN Political Director

By Jordan Chariton

david_chalian_jt_120728_wgCNN producer David Chalian has been named Political Director for the network, Washington Bureau Chief Sam Feist announced today.

The former ABC News political director joined CNN last summer as “Crossfire” supervising producer. He replaces Mark Preston as political director, who was promoted to executive editor of CNN Politics last month.

Before CNN, Chalian served as POLITICO’s VP of video programming and Yahoo News’ Washington Bureau Chief; he was terminated by Yahoo! after a negative comment he made about Mitt Romney and the Republican Party was caught on a hot microphone.
