Dan Abrams In Talks To Join ABC News as Legal Analyst For ‘GMA’

By Alex Weprin

After a long negotiation with both NBC News and ABC News, NBC legal analyst and former MSNBC host and GM Dan Abrams is closing in on a deal that would have him joining ABC News as a legal analyst, multiple people familiar with the situation tell TVNewser.

We hear that Abrams is in talks to become a legal analyst for “Good Morning America,” and would also contribute other pieces for “GMA,” as well as do some substitute anchoring on the weekend edition of the program.

Abrams would be a part of the legal unit  led by Chris Cuomo, joining Terry Moran and Pierre Thomas.

Politico first reported the talks were happening.

A spokesperson for ABC News wouldn’t discuss Abrams’ imminent arrival at the network. During negotiations between talent and networks, there is often an exclusionary period, during which the two sides cannot discuss hiring matters.

“Dan is a talented guy and would be an asset to any news division,” ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider told TVNewser.

In addition to his work for NBC News and MSNBC, Abrams also runs Abrams Research and the Abrams Media Network, which includes Mediaite.com.
