Craig Melvin Joins NBC News, MSNBC

By Chris Ariens

After interest from a few networks, Craig Melvin is staying in the NBCU family and is joining MSNBC as a dayside anchor and correspondent for NBC News.

Melvin joins from NBC station WRC in Washington, DC where he was a weekend anchor.

MSNBC has not said which hour or hours Melvin will anchor, but viewers should expect to see him fill in on different hours beginning as early as next week. “We are thrilled to welcome Craig to MSNBC’s dayside team,” said MSNBC President Phil Griffin in a press release. “He’s smart, loves the business and will be a great addition to the team.”

Melvin’s fiancee, Lindsay Czarniak, also just left WRC for a job at ESPN in Bristol, CT. He tells our sister blog TVSpy, “Making the move to be near my new wife was paramount. We decided living in different cities wasn’t the best way to start a marriage.”
