The evolution of HLN continues with the announcement today CNN’s original series The Hunt with John Walsh will simulcast on CNN and HLN when it returns for its third season in June. First run episodes will air on both networks Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
HLN will also broadcast blocks of The Hunt from previous seasons, to be called “HLN Spotlight,” on Fridays from 7-10 p.m. ET.
Variety quotes CNN executive vice president Ken Jautz, who oversees HLN, as saying the idea is to take advantage of the two networks’ different audiences to boost original series like The Hunt.
“One of the main things we are doing is refocusing the network on its news roots,” said Jautz. “We do not believe there will be any cannibalization, but a substantial increase in cumulative reach.”
