CNN is suing the radio company formerly known as Westwood One for more than $2 million, according to court documents obtained by TVNewser.
Westwood One, now part of Dial Global Radio Networks, produces and distributes programs featuring MSNBC host Ed Schultz and comedian Dennis Miller, among many others. Westwood merged with Dial Global in 2011.
The CNN lawsuit argues that Westwood One breached its contract with the cable channel.
Starting in November 2009, CNN began to provide radio content for Westwood One stations, with the deal set to expire on December 21, 2012. Westwood One decided that it did not want to carry CNN programming anymore in December, 2011, and the two sides amended their agreement to say that Westwood would have to pay CNN for the remaining year on its contract, but that CNN would pull its content at the end of March, 2012. CNN pulled the content, but it argues that Westwood failed to make the final two payments it owed CNN.
Over this alleged breach of contract, CNN is seeking no less than $2.35 million from Dial.
