CNN is marking the beginning of the back-to-school season today with the return of “CNN Student News,” a daily newscast for students streamed on CNNStudentNews.com.
The 10-minute newscast is a daily summary of top stories aimed at middle school, high school and college students, anchored by CNN’s Carl Azuz (pictured). In addition to the streaming version, it is also available for download on CNN.com or on iTunes, and it airs on weekdays at 4 a.m. on HLN. The show — which has been around for 22 years — will feature upcoming segments on the anniversary of 9/11, as well as a special on bullying.

CNN Student News Is Back in Session
Kick off the New School Year with Free Downloadable Shows and Learning Tools
For 22 years, CNN Student News has provided a cost-free and commercial-free news program for middle, high school and college students around the world, along with free teacher materials. On Monday, August 15th, CNN Student News returns for the new school year, continuing a long tradition of quality news programming for the classroom.
The new series of the award-winning program airs each weekday during the school year. CNN Student News provides educators, parents and students with a 10-minute news program anchored by Carl Azuz. The newscast is streamed on www.CNNStudentNews.com, and it is available as a free downloadable video podcast on www.cnn.com and on iTunes, in addition to airing on HLN Monday through Friday at 4:00a.m. ET. “CNN Student News delivers the most important and inspiring news of the day to middle and high school students around the world,” said Donna Krache, executive producer of CNN Student News. “I’m honored that CNN’s commitment to education continues to be so valued by educators and parents everywhere.”
As CNN Student News launches this new school year, look for a new segments that engage students and challenge them to think about their world. During the remainder of 2011, CNN Student News will air special programming segments focusing on the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, Stop Bullying Speak Up, and special observances, including Hispanic Heritage Month. In addition, CNN Student News offers teacher materials to accompany CNN documentaries including Latino in America 2, which will air in September, as well as CNN Heroes in December.
CNN Student News is a daily digest of the top news stories of the day, presented in a classroom-friendly, engaging format.
