CNN Shift: Ken Jautz’s New Mission

By Chris Ariens

As Ken Jautz takes on the huge task of righting CNN/U.S., he has the utmost confidence of his boss, CNN/Worldwide president Jim Walton. On a conference call with reporters, Walton said Jautz’s success at HLN make him the right person to lead CNN/U.S.:

I think it is important to note a couple of things about Ken’s time at HLN, and that is that he has successfully reworked the entire program of that network,. Ken’s mandate was to work with his team to create a network that would be eminently watchable and interesting and insightful, but also try to set it up in such a way that it wouldn’t cannibalize the CNN audience. Ken and his team tried to create programming for people that otherwise might not watch CNN. I am very confident that Ken will bring his journalistic skills and his programming skills and just as importantly his leadership skills to help us to continue to grow in the future.
