CNN Facebook, Twitter Accounts Hacked

Several of CNN’s social media accounts were hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army. The group took control of CNN’s main Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as blogs for Political Ticker, “The Lead,” “The Situation Room” and “Crossfire.”

The Syrian Electronic Army said the hacking was retaliation for CNN’s “viciously lying reporting aimed at prolonging the suffering in Syria.” CNN said the tweets were deleted and the accounts secured within minutes.

The Syrian Electronic Army has hacked several U.S. media accounts, including the New York Times website and the “60 Minutes” Twitter account, in the past.
