American businessman Chip Starnes is a prisoner inside of his own factory. Starnes is being held by workers in the Chinese manufacturing plant that produces his medical products, as he negotiates exit packages as part of an effort to move some manufacturing to India.
It is a heck of a story, so it isn’t surprising that TV news crews would cover it. CNN’s “New Day” aired a segment just after 6:30 AM, billing it as an “exclusive.” The only problem was that both “CBS This Morning” and CNBC’s Squawk box” aired nearly identical segments. Bloomberg TV also spoke to Starnes, although their interview was over the phone.
Update: “Good Morning America” and “Today” also ran similar segments.
