CNN Ahead Of Fox News In B&C’s Top 25

This morning, I mistakenly said that FNC was the only cable news net on Broadcasting & Cable‘s list of the Top 25 networks ranked by revenue. I was wrong; CNN actually ranked higher than FNC. CNN is #16 in the top 25, while FNC is #24. Here’s the full list.

In 2004, CNN reported $746 million in revenue. In 2005, this amount increased 6 percent to $794 million. While FNC made less money, they grew more: In 2004, FNC reported $471 million in revenue. In 2005, this amount increased 22 percent to $574 million.

Although CNN’s average primetime viewership is 753,000, compared to FNC’s 1.7 million, they make more money than Fox because of subscription fees…
