Clinton, Sanders and O’Malley All Make the Cut for NBC News Debate

By Chris Ariens

NBC finally has its chance to host a 2016 presidential primary debate. And today we learned Martin O’Malley has made the cut for Sunday’s democratic face-off–the 4th of this cycle–joining Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.

Lester Holt moderates the debate at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, S.C., just 10 miles from the site of tonight’s GOP debate on FBN, which is at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Holt will be joined by NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell. NBC News political director and Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd will anchor pre- and post-debate coverage, joined by NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker. Sunday’s pre-debate coverage kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on MSNBC. The pre-show will simulcast on the NBC network beginning at 8:50 p.m. ET.

NBC had been scheduled to host a GOP debate on Feb. 26, but the RNC pulled the debate following the highly-criticized GOP debate on CNBC in October. Insiders are hopeful the RNC will come around and bring NBC back on board.
