CBS News Correspondent Clarissa Ward, her producer Erin Lyall, and two other CBS News employees were held for several hours this morning by pro-Russian militants. They were stopped at a checkpoint near the eastern city of Horlivka detained, blindfolded and driven to another location about an hour away.
“We were blindfolded with cloth and masking tape really quite tightly around our heads so we couldn’t see anything at all,” Ward calmly explained on “CBS This Morning.”
We had to stand against the wall with our hands like this while all of our belongings were stripped from us and taken from us. Nobody was really explaining to us why we were being held or what we had done wrong. The women, myself and producer Erin Lyall were taken to one area and the men were taken elsewhere and one crew member was beaten. Thankfully other commanders came in and cooler heads prevailed, so they let us go.

Gayle King asked if Ward would be coming home. “Soon,” she said.
