Christiane Amanpour Returns From Egypt, But Her Focus Stays on the Middle East

ABC’s Christiane Amanpour grabbed two huge exclusives in Egypt last week, an interview with VP Suleiman, and an interview with Egyptian President Mubarak.

Now, as The Cutline’s Michael Calderone reports, Amanpour has returned to the U.S. While she may not be in the Middle East anymore, she plans to keep the focus on the region during “This Week.”

She also said that the American cable operators should be less skittish about picking up Al Jazeera English:

“In my view, the more perspectives the better,” Amanpour said. “This is the United States of America, the bastion of the free press. Anyone can get on cable, why not Al Jazeera?”
