Chris Wragge Returns to WCBS, Will Continue On ‘The Early Show’

By Merrill Knox

Chris Wragge — who took over as weekend anchor for CBS’s “The Early Show” in January after six years at WCBS — is returning to the local station.

Wragge has been named co-anchor of the 6 p.m. newscast while continuing to anchor “The Early Show” at least four days a week, TVNewser has learned.

Wragge was part of an all-new anchor team for CBS’s perennially #3 morning show, which has also seen a revolving door of executive producers in the last few years.

Wragge has done double duty in the past, beginning in 2008 when he was named co-anchor of the weekend edition of “The Early Show” while anchoring the 5 and 11 newscasts on WCBS, which is housed in the same building as CBS News.

The changes begin after Labor Day. TVSpy has the press release from WCBS.
