“Chris, Do You Ever Not Interrupt Your Guests or is That All You’d Like to Do?

By Chris Ariens

Pres. Bush’s first press secretary Ari Fleischer was on Hardball last night. He was booked to talk about the premise that members of the Bush inner circle are doing all they can to prop up his legacy.

The 16 minute discussion started getting contentious four minutes in, when Matthews said “we suffered the worst domestic calamity in history on your watch.”

Fleischer responded, “Chris how dare you. If we get attacked again are you going to say we got attacked on Barack Obama’s watch?”

“What you just did is shameful,” Fleischer added.

Then the discussion turned to Saddam Hussein, the intelligence failure in the run-up to the Iraq war, and Bill Clinton. Matthews: “Nobody on television was tougher on President Clinton than I was, Ari, and you know it.”
