Chris Cornell Appeared on CBS This Morning Just Three Weeks Before His Death

By Chris Ariens

A few weeks ago, just before Soundgarden set out on a new tour, lead singer Chris Cornell sat down with CBS News’s Anthony Mason for an interview and performance on CBS This Morning Saturday.

Cornell, 52, and a father of 3, died overnight. The medical examiner ruled he hanged himself in his Detroit hotel room following a concert last night. The band was to perform sold-out shows in Columbus, OH tomorrow and Denver on Monday.

Mason’s interview with Cornell was about his new song for the film, The Promise and the new tour. On the April 22 edition of CTM Cornell performed his 1994 hit Black Hole Sun.
