Chip Reid Asks Question, But Doesn’t Get An Answer, at White House Press Freedom Event

Yahoo! News’ Michael Calderone takes note of an ironic turn at the White House yesterday during the signing of the Daniel Pearl Freedom of the Press Act.

Both the Drudge Report and FishbowlDC noted that the signing was pooled press, meaning that only reporters in the rotating press pool were allowed to attend. The pool reporters at such occasions relay the information and color to the rest of the D.C. press corps.

One of the pool reporters on hand for the Oval Office signing, CBS’ Chip Reid, tried to ask a question about the oil spill clean-up. “Speaking of press freedom,” began Reid.

“You are free to ask them,” responded the president, adding he’s “not doing a press conference today.”
