Chad Myers’ Mom Becomes Weather Spotter

CNN had one of the first phone interviews with a Florida resident affected by the tornados Friday morning. Meteorologist Chad Myers called his mother Dottie, who lives the Villages in Florida, near the damage, and she was interviewed by CNN’s Heidi Collins.

“This morning, when we heard the tornado already hit Lady Lake, we became a little concerned and of course Chad called us, made sure we were okay,” Dottie said. “We went out in our car and started to survey some of the damage. We weren’t able to go too far to the devastated areas, because they were already blocked off. So then we just proceeded to just go into little villages that were opened, that we could go in to see. We just saw a lot of damage to these newly built homes.”
