During yesterday’s congressional hearings into the proposed auto bailout, a Thursday CBS Evening News story into the lobbying activities of American car makers was cited by Texas Rep. Jeb Hensarling, a Republican.

There was a report on CBS News last night that you gentlemen have spent roughly — somewhere north of $50 million on lobbying feeds for the first nine months of this year. Clearly you have people that you can afford to represent you in Washington, D.c.. A small business can’t.

CBS’s Sharyl Atkisson reports the auto CEOs did not have an answer to that.
