CBS Promotes a Pair of Local Correspondents

CBSCBS News has promoted two correspondents from within the company.

Mireya Villarreal is now a CBS News correspondent and Weijia Jiang has been named a correspondent for CBS Newspath, the network’s 24-hour television newsgathering service.

Villarreal will join CBS News on July 20 and will be based in Los Angeles. She’s leaving KTVT, the CBS owned and operated station in Dallas. Villarreal is the recipient of numerous Emmy awards and two Texas Associated Press awards for stories on immigration and child safety.

Jiang will join CBS Newspath on July 6 and will be based in Washington. She was previously a general assignment reporter and fill-in anchor for WCBS, the CBS owned and operated station in New York. Jiang has also won several industry awards, including a regional Emmy award for coverage of Superstorm Sandy. She began her career as a 13-year-old student reporter and anchor for ChannelOne News in Los Angeles.
