CBS News has promoted two members of its communications team, with Kelli Halyard taking over day-to-day responsibility for communications. Sonya McNair, senior vice president of communications announced the promotions in a memo to CBS News staff obtained by TVNewser. “Kelli has been with CBS News for many years and she has held several increasingly responsible positions in communications. I am very happy to be able to move Kelli into this important position, and know she will make a tremendous contribution in it,” McNair writes.
At the “CBS Evening News,” Lance Frank has been named the program’s director of communications. “Lance has been an enormous asset for CBS News and our Communications Department since he took on the very important job of supporting Scott and the Evening News,” said McNair.

In the coming days, I will relocate to the front row of the Broadcast Center, and will focus a bit more on the big-picture initiatives that will drive CBS News in the days ahead.
While I will maintain oversight of the Department, Kelli Halyard, as Executive Director, will assume a new role and direct day-to-day operations for the department. Kelli has been with CBS News for many years and she has held several increasingly responsible positions in communications. At the same time, I am pleased to announce that Lance Frank has been promoted to Director of Communications for the CBS Evening News.
