CBS News has named the senior broadcast producer, as well as seven senior producers and a director of production, for its upcoming morning program “CBS This Morning.” Tom Mazzarelli has been named senior broadcast producer foe the program. Mazzarelli had been a senior producer for “The Early Show.” Rick Jefferson has been named director of production for the program. Jefferson had been a manager of technical operations at MSNBC.
In addition to Mazzarelli, some of the “Early Show” and CBS holdovers include: Ryan Kadro, Bob Meyer, Kevin Rochford, Mosheh Oinounou and Sharon Hoffman.
The new additions include Eva Nordstrom, who joins CBS from Bloomberg TV and Rachel Weintraub Riegel, who was co-executive producer of “The Gayle King Show” on OWN. King is now a co-anchor of “CBS This Morning.”
CBS NEWS ANNOUNCES SENIOR TEAM FOR “CBS THIS MORNING”
CBS News has named a senior team for CBS THIS MORNING, it was announced today by Chris Licht, Vice President, Programming, CBS News and Executive Producer of the new broadcast. Tom Mazzarelli was named senior broadcast producer, and seven senior producers were also announced: Sharon Hoffman, Ryan Kadro, Bob Meyer, Eva Nordstrom, Mosheh Oinounou, Kevin Rochford and Rachel Weintraub Riegel. Rick Jefferson has been named Director of Production.
Tom Mazzarelli has served as a senior producer of “The Early Show” since 2008. He joined CBS News following a year at Twentieth Television (2006-2007), where he launched the syndicated morning broadcast “The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet” and served as executive producer of the program. Prior to his position at Twentieth Television, Mazzarelli was a senior producer with NBC’s “Today Show” (2003-2006).
Sharon Hoffman joined CBS News in October 2011 after three years as senior producer for ABC News’ “Good Morning America.” Before that, she was executive producer of “The Bryant Park Project,” a two-hour daily morning radio news program on NPR. Hoffman spent the majority of her television news career at NBC News, working as a producer for “Dateline NBC,” the senior domestic producer for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams,” and senior producer for NBC News Productions.
Ryan Kadro was recently named a senior producer for “The Early Show,” after serving as a supervising producer since January 2010. Prior to joining CBS News, Kadro spent 10 years at NBC Entertainment working for a number of different shows. He helped launch “Last Call with Carson Daly” in 2002, eventually serving as writer and supervising producer while transitioning the show from the studio to a field-based production in 2009. Kadro also played a key role in the development of NBC’s New Year’s Eve franchise, where he held a variety of positions, including supervising producer, writer and music producer.
Bob Meyer, currently a senior producer for “The Early Show,” joined CBS News in 2007 as a supervising producer for the broadcast. Prior to that, he worked for 30 years at NBC News in various capacities, including national assignment manager, producer for election broadcasts “Decision 1984” through “Decision 2000,” and field producer, supervising producer, special projects producer for “NBC Nightly News,” NBC News
specials and “Today.”
Eva Nordstrom is an Emmy award-winning producer who most recently served as a senior supervising producer at Bloomberg Television. Before joining Bloomberg, she spent more than a decade at CNN, as a senior producer overseeing production of live segments for “American Morning” and “Anderson Cooper 360.”
Mosheh Oinounou joined CBS News in July 2011 as a senior producer coordinating Washington and political coverage. Prior to joining CBS News, he served as the International Editor for Bloomberg Television where he managed foreign news coverage for the channel including on-site coverage of the 2011 Japanese earthquake and Fukushima disaster. Oinounou also worked as a producer for “Fox News Sunday” and as a Washington, D.C.-based political producer for Fox News Channel, where he served as the network’s off-air reporter covering the McCain and Giuliani presidential campaigns.
Kevin Rochford has worked at CBS News for 22 years, most recently as a senior producer of “The Early Show” (2001-2011). He began at the network producing radio news broadcast — including “Dan Rather Reporting” and the radio version of “Nightwatch” with Charlie Rose — before moving to television as national assignment editor and field producer in the Northeast bureau.
Before joining CBS THIS MORNING, Rachel Weintraub Riegel served as co-executive producer of “The Gayle King Show” on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. Rachel was a producer for eight seasons at “The View.” She began her career at King World.
Rick Jefferson has served as manager, technical operations for MSNBC since 2009, prior to which he served for nearly 13 years as senior technical production manager for the network. While at MSNBC, he acted as a liaison between production staff and technical staff for MSNBC Special projects and for “Hardball with Chris Matthews.” He also served as lead technical production manager for major projects including the royal wedding, the past three presidential inaugurations, Republican and Democratic National Conventions, papal visits and a variety of major sports events. Before joining MSNBC, Jefferson spent a year as a production supervisor for WCBS (1995-1996), prior to which he served in a variety of capacities for CBS, including broadcast distribution manager (1992-1995), supervisor, broadcast operations (1991-1992) and satellite control manager (1990-1991).
CBS THIS MORNING, which debuts on Jan. 9, 2012, will air from 7:00-9:00 AM and will be hosted by Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Erica Hill.
