CBS Hasn’t Had This Many Viewers Since Nancy Kerrigan’s Knee Was Whacked

morning show anchors_640Last week, CBS This Morning had its biggest audience since since January 1994, when coverage of the attack on Olympic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan dominated the news. Seven weeks after the attack, Kerrigan won silver at the Lillehammer Olympics, which aired on CBS.

CBS’s airing of the Super Bowl gave a boost to CTM. Monday’s show was its most-watched in 15 years. And while CTM is growing — up +16 percent in viewers and up +11 percent in the demo vs. the same week last year — the show remains in third place behind Good Morning America, the most-watched show last week, and NBC’s Today show, which is No. 1 in the demo, its 23rd weekly win in the last 24 weeks. GMA is down -9 percent in viewers and down -10 percent in the demo, while Today held its viewer audience and grew in the demo, up +3 percent vs. last year.
