CBS Cuts From Tel Aviv Bureau Just Before War

The New York Observer’s Felix Gillette writes about the cuts at CBS News’ Tel Aviv bureau “on the eve of the outbreak of war in Gaza.”

Gillette reports approximately a dozen employees were losing their job, bring the bureau down to a bureau chief, Gaby Silon, and three others.

CBS News SVP Paul Friedman says, “The old model no longer applies. You do not need a massive infrastructure, as long as you can mobilize people quickly when the story develops.”

CBS is the “only one of the big three networks without a full-time correspondent in Israel,” writes Gillette.
