The New York Observer’s Felix Gillette writes about the cuts at CBS News’ Tel Aviv bureau “on the eve of the outbreak of war in Gaza.”
Gillette reports approximately a dozen employees were losing their job, bring the bureau down to a bureau chief, Gaby Silon, and three others.
CBS News SVP Paul Friedman says, “The old model no longer applies. You do not need a massive infrastructure, as long as you can mobilize people quickly when the story develops.”

CBS is the “only one of the big three networks without a full-time correspondent in Israel,” writes Gillette.
