About 3.5 million Time Warner Cable customer will get their CBS programs back at 6pmET as CBS and TWC have come to an agreement. In fact, programming returned even earlier as coverage of the U.S. Open quarterfinals aired on CBS.
CBS did not release terms of the deal but added, “the agreement includes retransmission consent, as well as Showtime Anytime and VOD, for CBS stations on Time Warner Cable systems in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas.” The CBS-owned stations in those markets and others, have been dark for the last month — since August 2 — on Time Warner Cable. The blackout also affected Showtime, the Movie Channel, Flix and the Smithsonian Channel.
The resolution comes as the NFL season is about to get underway, as the U.S. Open enters the finals, and CBS’ new Fall season approaches.
