Carson Daly Joins ‘Today’ Show

Carson Daly is joining the “Today” show as the host of what NBC calls a first-of-its-kind digital studio, dubbed the Orange Room.

The show is hosting a brunch for the media at this hour (Merrill is covering and will have a report later) with details on the new studio. As for the Orange Room, NBC says it will bridge the show’s TV and digital platforms and “offer audiences the chance to communicate and connect with the show unlike ever before.”

Daly will continue to host “The Voice,” and NBC’s New Year’s Eve special, but is giving up “Last Call” as NBC decides the fate of that late, late show. Daly has also signed a first-look development deal with NBC for scripted and alternative programs under his Daly Productions banner.

“For over a decade now, NBC has allowed me to grow and delve further into live broadcasting and producing, and I am so grateful for these opportunities,” said Carson. “I’m thrilled to be joining the talented team at Today.”
