Yahoo News and Finance anchor Bianna Golodryga had a rather extraordinary conversation with California congressman Dana Rohrabacher earlier today on Yahoo News Now.
The Republican congressman is rumored to be a potential candidate for Secretary of State in the Trump administration, and he’s considered Vladimir Putin’s favorite U.S. congressman. His remarks during this interview will likely prove why.
Golodryga brought up Russia’s well-documented history of human rights abuses during what became a pretty contentious conversation. Rohrabacher was having none of it, saying “Oh, Baloney! Where do you come from? How can you say that?” Apparently unbeknownst to the congressman, the anchor interviewing him was born in the former Soviet Union. Golodryga is a U.S. citizen whose family immigrated to Houston from the former Soviet Republic of Moldova when she was a toddler. She came to the U.S. as a political refugee.
After alerting Rohrabacher of her heritage, the congressman responded by saying “Oh, well then that’s good, then the audience knows that you are biased.”
“I’m biased, because I’m an American citizen who was born in a foreign country?” Golodryga asked.
Later in the conversation, Rohrabacher compares Putin to the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev. You can’t make this up.
