CBS News has named Caitlin Conant director of communications for the network’s Washington bureau and Face the Nation.

“Caitlin’s communications and political background will undoubtedly be an asset to our team as we move into the general election and beyond,” said CBS News senior vice president of communications Christa Robinson in a memo to staff announcing the hire Tuesday.

Conant served most recently as a press aide on the presidential campaign of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Before that, she was press secretary and then communications director for Sen. Rob Portman.

Conant replaces Jackie Berkowitz who, after a decade in D.C., moved to Los Angeles earlier this month to take a PR job at Netflix.
