In a surprise trip that coincides with the one-year anniversary of the U.S. mission that killed Osama bin Laden, President Barack Obama touched down at Bagram Air Field in Kabul, Afghanistan, shortly after 1:50pmET this afternoon.

Fox News and MSNBC announced the news at the top of the 3pmET hour, with CNN right behind them at 3:01. As is customary when the President travels to a war zone, news of the trip was kept secret until after he landed in Kabul.

The networks also reported the news that Obama will address the nation at 7:30pmET. He is expected to announce an agreement to ensure military and financial support for Afghanistan beyond 2014, when the final U.S. combat troops are slated to withdraw.
