Cable Network Ranker: Week of November 12

With the election now a memory, the cable news channels fell down a bit in the cable network ranker for the week of November 12-19.

Fox News Channel, which had been number one for the past four weeks, slipped to third in primetime among ad-supported cable networks and second in total day. It was still the highest-ranked cable news channel by a significant margin. FNC averaged 2.14 million viewers in primetime and 1.32 million viewers in total day.

MSNBC, which had made the top 10 for the past few weeks, slipped to 13th in primetime and 14th in total day, averaging 1.16 million and 651,000 viewers, respectively. CNN also cracked the top 10 during the election, it ended up at 28th in primetime and 26th in total day, with 635,000 and 470,000 viewers, respectively.

HLN placed 47th in primetime and 45th in total day, averaging 256,000 ad 205,000 viewers, respectively. Current TV was 90th in primetime and 91st in total day, averaging 38,000 and 32,000 viewers, respectively.

As for the business networks: CNBC led the way as usual, placing 52nd in primetime and 51st in total day, averaging 197,000 and 165,000 viewers, respectively. Fox Business was 88th in primetime and 80th in total day, averaging 52,000 and 58,000 viewers, respectively. Bloomberg TV isn’t rated by Nielsen, and hasn’t been since it launched in 1994.
