Coverage of Whitney Houston‘s funeral pushed CNN into the top 20 cable channels for the week of February 13-20. CNN placed 20th among ad-supported cable networks in total day with 601,000 viewers. In primetime CNN placed 28th, averaging 781,000.

As usual, Fox News Channel was the top cable news channel for the week, placing 4th among ad-supported nets in primetime and 5th in total day with 1.86 million and 1.11 million total viewers, respectively. MSNBC was 27th in primetime and 30th in total day with 795,000 and 459,000 viewers, respectively.

CNBC managed to crack the top 40 in primetime, placing 39th with 349,000 viewers. Unfortunately that was not due to its business programming, but rather live coverage and replays of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. In total day CNBC placed 49th with 195,000 viewers. FBN, which is in the middle of a programming shift in primetime, remained near the bottom of the chart, placing 92nd in primetime and 86th in total day with 51,000 and 57,000 viewers, respectively.
