President Obama — who was running a little late this afternoon — emerged shortly after 1:50 p.m. for a statement on the S&P downgrade, as well as the U.S. troops killed this weekend in Afghanistan. The statement lasted about 10 minutes and was covered live by both the cable networks and the broadcast networks, who all delivered special reports. The business networks — CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business — also all took the president’s address.
