The broadcast networks will all lead in to tonight’s 7 p.m. presidential address with their normal nightly newscasts. All three networks will offer post-game analysis — anchored by George Stephanopoulos for ABC, Brian Williams for NBC and Scott Pelley for CBS. NBC — which is carrying the 8:30 p.m. NFL kickoff game that is the reason behind President Obama’s earlier-than-usual address — will likely minimize post-speech analysis to join the in-progress NFL pregame show, which was displaced to cable due to the presidential speech.
Fox News Channel and CNN will take the speech live and incorporate coverage into their normal 7 p.m. shows — “The Fox Report with Shepard Smith” on Fox News Channel, a live “Hardball with Chris Matthews” on MSNBC. CNN will also take the speech live, with Wolf Blitzer and John King will jointly anchoring coverage that will also be simulcast on CNN International. C-SPAN will also broadcast the speech in its entirety.
All three business networks will also take the presidential address. CNBC’s coverage will be anchored by Maria Bartiromo and John Harwood, while Lou Dobbs will anchor for Fox Business. Bloomberg TV’s coverage will be anchored by Margaret Brennan from Washington, DC, and will lead directly in to the network’s 9/11 documentary, “Tragedy and Triumph: Wall Street After 9/11.”
