Business Nets Plan Special Programming as Apple CEO Steve Jobs Resigns

Apple CEO Steve Jobs resigned this evening, sending cable news–particularly the business channels–into overdrive. CNBC began re-airing its documentary on Steve Jobs after 8 PM, while Bloomberg is planning a special one-hour live edition of “Bloomberg West” from 9-10 PM. That special will feature an interview with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

Bloomberg reported the Jobs news at 6:35 PM ET during “Bloomberg West,”while CNBC broke into “Mad Money” to report the news at 6:40 PM, and Neil Cavuto reported the news during his FBN program at 6:41.

Among the general cable news channels, CNN reported the Jobs news at 6:40 PM, Fox News reported the news at 6:42 PM, while MSNBC waited until 7:34 PM, breaking into a replay of “Hardball,” according to TVEyes.
