Burnett “Amused” By Fame, “Amazed” By India’s Media

CNBC anchor Erin Burnett recently returned from a trip to India, and was profiled by DNA India’s Nirmal John on her trip.

She’s asked how she balances fame with being a serious newscaster. “It’s funny. You don’t think of yourself apart from the person you were five or 10 years ago. You remain the same. In that sense, you never get used to it and it becomes kind of amusing,” she says. “The bottom line is that you have to take out all the bad and take out all the good and see what you’ve got.”

She also describes how impressed she was with India’s media, calling it “indistinguishable,” from what is seen in the United States. “I was amazed at all the different angles and stories in the media,” she said. “In many ways it seems to me that in the Indian media, there is more passion, more arguments, and more dialogue in the pages of newspapers.”
