The broadcast and cable networks will devote special coverage this weekend and next week to the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings. Here’s what they have planned.
NBC News: Brian Williams anchors a primetime special, “108 Hours: Inside the Hunt for the Boston Marathon Bombers,” at 8pmET/7pmCT tonight. The anniversary will be marked with coverage on “Nightly News,” which will report on the case against Dzhokhar Tsarnaev; “Today,” which will feature survival stories of the bombing victims; and “Meet the Press,” which will host a panel discussion about the bombings, investigation, and security in America.
Additionally, “Today” show news anchor Natalie Morales will run the Boston Marathon on April 21 with Carmen Acabbo, whose sister and niece were injured at the marathon last year.
ABC News: Diane Sawyer, Dan Harris, Amy Robach, Bob Woodruff and Brian Ross will report for all ABC’s news platforms on the anniversary. Harris will be in Boston covering the memorial events on April 15 and this year’s marathon on April 21, while Robach will profile a family impacted by the bombings and Ross will provide updates on the investigation. “This Week” will have an interview with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick on Sunday.
CBS News: Sunday’s “60 Minutes” will feature a profile of Boston native Shalane Flanagan, who is aiming to be the first American in 30 years to win the Boston Marathon this year. Flanagan, who finished fourth last year, wants retribution for what she said was “a personal attack on my city.” Scott Pelley will anchor coverage of the moments of silence from the Marathon’s finish line on Tuesday. “CBS Evening News” will also originate from Boston Tuesday night.
Correspondent Jeff Glor will cover commemorative events, Chip Reid interviews the carjacking victim that helped police locate the two suspects and Elaine Quijano speaks with a Boston Globe photographer who has chronicled the recovery of a mother and daughter both hurt in the attack.

Fox News: “Fox News Reporting: Terror Strikes Boston” will air Saturday at 10pmET and Sunday at 9pmET. On Tuesday, Martha MacCallum will present an in-depth investigative package that features interviews with Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), the former head of the CIA about the Tsarneav brothers. Bill Hemmer will anchor “America’s Newsroom” and “America’s News Headquarters” live from Boston on April 21, the day of this year’s marathon. Boston-based correspondent Molly Line will also contribute to coverage.
FoxNews.com will host an interactive live event page covering the anniversary that will include live streaming of memorial services in Boston and around the country.
CNN: CNN programs will provide coverage of the anniversary throughout the day Tuesday. “Moments of Impact,” a one-hour special hosted by Randi Kaye, will air on Monday, April 14 at 10pmET and replay at 1amET. This week, Anderson Cooper anchored “The Survival Diaries,” a special about a a dancer who had her lower leg amputated after the blasts.
