Brian Williams: ‘There is a big difference in the content you get…from the people who do this for a living’

Brian Williams is adjusting to a new world of technology and new competitors: cable news, YouTube, Twitter.

“Everyone has at their disposal the means to become media on the Web. That’s a big change. I get it,” he told TV Guide Magazine, “But there is a big difference in the content you get from the brand names — the people who do this for a living.”

The anchor of #1-rated “NBC Nightly News,” who grew up admiring the work of Walter Cronkite, has taken a new-school approach to his old-school broadcast. “I’ve been trying to get us to inhabit the same world in our promos as we do in our homes,” Williams said about encouraging his viewers to DVR his program, “It took a little doing.”
