Brian Williams Celebrates Seven Years As ‘NBC Nightly News’ Anchor

By Alex Weprin

Today marks seven years behind the desk for “NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams. Williams officially took the reins from Tom Brokaw on December 2, 2004.

Williams has spent most of those seven years as the most-watched evening news anchor, including 111 of the first 113 weeks, and 162 of the last 163 weeks. “ABC World News” with Charles Gibson gave NBC a run for its money in the late aughts, but with Gibson’s departure, “Nightly'”s lead solidified.

This afternoon, Williams and his team celebrated the anniversary with, what else? donuts and cookies (photo via @ErikaMasonhall)
