Two new books about morning TV will soon hit stores.

New York Times media scribe Brian Stelter, who is the founder of this blog, is penning a book tentatively titled The Top Of The Morning.

“Media reporters, myself included, don’t pay enough attention to morning television,” Stelter tells TVNewser. “I’m hoping this book helps change that.”

Stelter will delve into both broadcast and cable morning shows, including the growing influence of cable news including ESPN’s morning “Sportscenter” which counts GMA newsreader Josh Elliott as an anchor alum.

“Morning shows are the axis upon which the TV world turns” says Stelter. “The book will profile both the programs and the people who put them on the air every single day.”

Meanwhile, TV Guide’s Stephen Battaglio is writing a coffee table book about the leading morning show, NBC’s “Today” which celebrates its 60 anniversary in January. From Yesterday to TODAY: Six Decades of Historical Moments, Unforgettable Segments, and Newsmaking Interviews will be released in November.
