Brian Kilmeade Says Trump Banning the Post Is ‘a Problem’

By A.J. Katz

Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade thinks the Trump campaign banning the Washington Post from credentialed access sets a bad precedent.

“I think anytime you ban a news outlet no matter how popular or unpopular they might be, I think it’s a problem,” Kilmeade told TVNewser from Orlando, where he’s been covering the massacre at the Pulse nightclub. “I don’t think that’s ever positive. I mean, my goodness, if you Google my name there are a lot of negative stories there. But if I had the power as a presidential candidate, I wouldn’t ban any single outlet.”

Kilmeade praised his media colleagues for their coverage of the tragedy in Orlando. It was something Trump said on Fox & Friends Monday that was picked up by the Post, which led to the campaign’s decision to boot them from coverage. “I respect everyone’s opinion, and I think that everyone has a role to play,” Kilmeade added. “I truly think this is a bad road to go down.”
