Bret Baier’s 6-year-old son, Paul, underwent open heart surgery of his young life this morning. Just after 3pmET, Baier Tweeted, “Looking good-Paul’s in CICU -his surgeon is very pleased. Recovery looks solid so far-next 6-12 hours are key.”
Paul Baier was born with 5 congenital heart defects. He’s undergone 7 angioplasties. And this is his third open heart surgery — the first in more than 5 years. On his blog yesterday, an emotional Baier said, “Paul’s in great spirits. He’s a fighter and we’re going to fight right alongside him. It’s not easy, but we’re going to plow through and he’s going to have long happy life.”
Baier will be off the rest of the week and hopes to return next week.
