Bret Baier to Interview President Obama

By kevin

Wednesday night, Bret Baier has an exclusive interview with President Obama on “Special Report” at 6pmET. It’s Baier’s first one-on-one with the President and it comes on the same night as the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington. The primary topic will be the upcoming health care reform vote in the house.

It’s FNC’s first interview with Obama since White House correspondent Major Garrett sat down with the President in Beijing in November, and the second since the reported “thaw” between the White House and Fox News after former Communications director Anita Dunn‘s comments about the network created tension between the two.

More: The subject of Baier’s interview came up today during Press Secretary Robert Gibbs‘ briefing, reports Politico:

“Obviously, they have a pretty big audience share,” Gibbs says, “and i think it’s safe to say that a lot of members that are undecided are going to be — they watch, and their constituents watch, this news. So we’re happy to continue the argument on why health care reform is important to pass this year on Fox.”

Asked if the White House hopes to change the minds of Fox viewers, Gibbs responds, “Certainly worth a shot.” (2:20 p.m.)
