Bob Simon’s Widow Sues Over Fatal Car Crash

wimdevosbobmemoriesmainThe New York Post reports 60 Minutes correspondent Bob Simon was “in horrific agony and knew he was dying” in the moments after the car accident on New York’s West Side Highway that killed the CBS News icon.

According to a lawsuit filed by Simon’s widow, Francoise Anne-Marie Simon, Simon “suffered conscious pain [and] fear of impending death.” The suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, claims the limo driver at the wheel of Simon’s car, Reshad Abdul Fedahi, should not have been driving:

Simon’s death could have been easily avoided had Fedahi’s employers refused to rehire the ticket-tarnished hack, the lawsuit says. Fedahi, a resident of the Wards Island homeless shelter, had one limp arm, two speeding convictions and nine license revocations. Skyline Credit Ride and its contractor, Travez Transportation, had even previously fired Fedahi.
Simon’s widow has hired the top Manhattan law firm Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz. She is suing the two companies and the driver, asking for punitive damages to teach the defendants a lesson and warn other car companies against hiring bad drivers.
