Biz Newsers Cover News Corp. Shareholder Meeting

By Chris Ariens

News Corp. will be holding its annual general meeting of shareholders in Los Angeles today and the business news networks — including the one owned by News Corp. — will be covering it closely.

FBN reporter Ashley Webster (right), is covering the meeting for both Fox Business and Fox News. Julia Boorstin will cover for CNBC and Cory Johnson will be covering for Bloomberg TV. Webster has been covering the phone hacking scandal which led to the arrest of several News Corp. employees and the resignation of others, angering large blocks of shareholders.

Despite calls for change by thousands of shareholders — some demanding the removal of chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch and his son James — don’t expect too much change. Murdoch owns about 40% of the voting shares. Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal — who supports Murdoch — holds another 7%.
