Bin Laden Killed: President Obama Makes First Remarks Since Announcement

By Alex Weprin

Just after 12 PM ET, President Obama appeared at the White House to present two posthumous Medals of Honor to veterans of the Korean War.

Before presenting the medals to the soldier’s families, he remarked on the killing of Osama Bin Laden, and gave kudos to outgoing Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, and Secretary of veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, both of whom were in the room.

“I think we can all agree this is a good day for America,” the President said. “Our country has kept its commitment to see that justice is done, the world is safer, it is a better place because of the death of Osama Bin Laden.”
