Bin Laden Killed: Geraldo Rivera’s Personal Mission

By Chris Ariens

Geraldo Rivera left a “plum job” at CNBC in the days after the 9/11 attacks. He wanted to be a war correspondent. That wasn’t going to happen at NBC. So, as he writes on his FoxNewsLatino blog, he signed with Fox News, “the spunky new network created by old friend Roger Ailes.”

I started at Fox on a November Friday. By the following Tuesday, I was in Pakistan en route to the Khyber Pass and Afghanistan, reporting on the burgeoning effort to catch or kill Bin Laden – and to punish the Afghan Taliban who had given Al Qaeda sanctuary.

And since, Rivera has made it a personal crusade to see the demise of Osama Bin Laden. On FoxNewsInsider, he writes, “But what goes around has come around for the baddest of bad guys. And it has come around for me.”

It just so happened, that the news broke during his show Sunday night. If you haven’t seen it, here’s Rivera reporting — urgent, celebratory, and as the information was coming in, wrong at times — but like nothing else on TV that night:
