Bill Simmons Inadvertently Breaks Moss-Vikings Deal

Rule #1 of Twitter is learn how to direct message correctly.

ESPN.com’s Bill Simmons inadvertently sent out a tweet Tuesday evening that said, “Moss vikings,” which started a firestorm of rumors regarding the future of New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss.

“Sorry that last tweet was supposed to be a DM,” Simmons said shortly after. “Rumors swirling about a Pats-Minny trade for Randy Moss.”

Those rumors were confirmed by Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com, who reported the Patriots were close to a deal that would send Moss to the Minnesota Vikings. The deal was contingent on Moss working out a new deal with the Vikings.

“As far as DM accidents go, that was a 3 on the Ray Allen Scale,” tweeted Simmons. “Sorry. Hate passing along rumors, that’s why I was DM-ing for info.”

No need to apologize for accidentally breaking news, Bill.
