Bill O’Reilly Takes a Cue From Glenn Beck, Will Ask Viewers to ‘Restore the USA’

Former Fox News Channel host Glenn Beck has had something of a monopoly on “Restoring” things. Beck has held a pair of rallies, “Restoring Honor” and “Restoring Courage,” encouraging people to take action.

Now Fox News 8 PM host Bill O’Reilly is looking to take the theme to the next logical step, by “Restoring the USA.”

O’Reilly’s company, Bill Me, Inc. has filed trademarks for “Restore the USA” with the US Patent & Trademark Office. The application covers most commercial products, so if anyone wants to produce a product with the slogan “Restore the USA” on it, they will have to deal with O’Reilly’s lawyers.

The decision to trademark the phrase may have stemmed from a “Talking Points Memo” segment at the end of September about the “decline of America”:

“So the theme for the Republican challenger in next year’s presidential race is likely to be “I’ll restore America,” because it will be hard for President Obama to argue that the country does not need restoration.”

The applications were submitted in early October, just a few days after the segment aired. A number of companies have already secured trademarks for “Restore America,” making it a trickier phrase to register.

Other slogans that O’Reilly has trademarked for products include “Bold & Fresh,” Pinheads & Patriots,” “Don’t Be a Pin-Head” and “The Spin Stops here.”
