Bill Maher: ‘I Had Some Extensive Talks With MSNBC’

By Jordan Chariton

Bill MaherIn an interview with Forbes.com, HBO “Real Time” host Bill Maher reveals there was a time when hosting on MSNBC was a possibility.

“A while back I had some extensive talks with MSNBC and ultimately we all looked around the room and we all just knew with advertisers to worry about, we’d never be able to make it work,” Maher said.

Maher has appeared as a guest on shows like “Hardball with Chris Matthews” and “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell” over the years, but recently criticized the network for what he called “obsessive” coverage of the New Jersey bridge fiasco.

On whether he’d ever take his brand of outspoken comedy to CNN, Maher was unequivocal: “Never, going to happen.”

Maher’s “Real Time” EP Scott Carter recently spoke to our sister-site Lost Remote about Maher’s #flipadistirct social media campaign to unseat a member of Congress.
